European Poker Tour in Berlin has attracted great attention of the general public interested in the shocked event. The final of the tournament which was organized in Grand Hyatt Hotel could be called really unexpected. According to the information of the Associated Press, Saturday night four robbers stole a part of the prize pool of the event.
Fortunately nobody was harmed, one of the eyewitnesses and the final winner MacPhee told about this accident to the viewers of “Early Show”. The robbery was fixed by the cameras, so you could see this process in the details. The criminals didn’t enter the poker room, but stayed at the registration area. There is a lot of panic, this tourney involved about 500 people. Some of them got up out of the seats, others covered under the tables. After the great emotional impact and even panic the players were asked to continue the game for €1 million. The police supposed that one of the robbers was in hotel and gave a sign to the accessories to start the operation.
In spite of the fact of the great financial loss (the current sum of stolen money was not mentioned) all best players got their prizes. Kevin MacPhee became the top poker player who won the main prize but he didn’t want to relax.
